Job Description
Our Client is a global provider of professional technical and management support services to a broad range of markets, including transportation, facilities, environmental, energy, water and government.
A vacancy exists as part of the strategic design engineering management team to be the High Voltage Direct Current expert across multiple projects. The role of the High Voltage Direct Current Engineer is to provide professional services in technical tasks, team development, process improvements and design within HVDC substation design. In this position you will be the key stakeholder in electrical design within projects/innovations, be the HVDC leader, and provide electrical guidance with regard site safety systems. Critical to the role will be the need to understand the design processes involved in substation design.
Duties include;
• Perform detail design of secondary systems (protection and control) for substations design projects from 11kV to 330kV.
• Ensuring a high quality of designs in accordance with AECOM’s QMS
• Assisting in preparation of tenders and bid proposals
• Liaising with project manager and project team members
• Completing design within allocated time, budget and required scope.
• Prepare design reports
Skills / Experience required
• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years related experience
• A good understanding of protection and control schemes
• A good understanding of substation secondary systems interfacing
• Experience in CAD (AutoCAD and Microstation) would be an advantage
• A good understanding of the design processes
• Knowledge on SCADA systems and power systems analysis tools would be an advantage
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work in a diverse environment and take on challenges.
